I've been on deviantART since my senior year of high school, and I thank those of you who've followed me through that journey. I'm pleased to announce that after four years, I'll be graduating from college with a B.S. in chemistry with honors! In August, I'll be attending GA Tech for graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry. I'm excited and nervous about this transition in my life, and I hope to continue to create!
This summer, I will not be doing any internships or anything like that, but will instead be focusing on relaxing, travelling, and of course, ART! I wish the rest of you the best in whatever you are pursuing this summer.

Grad School
I just realized I hadn't posted a journal entry since I began grad school. That should tell you how busy I am! I made it through my first semester, and am well into the second! I've started research and with classes, I have so little time for art. However, I feel that the busier I get, the more time I feel I spend on art! So, hopefully I will be cranking out a piece or two this semester! I've already started sketching out a new - what else? - rose painting. This one will be a very complicated large painting with multiple roses. I'm excited to start it, but I'm incredibly nervous!
Hope all is well with everyone else!

ACEO Prints
I don't know that I've ever ranted on here before, but I'm doing it now. I was browsing through the ACEOs on Etsy today and found some really great, inexpensive pieces that I would have loved to have. One problem - they were prints of ACEOs. Seriously? The entire point of ACEOs was to create affordable, ORIGINAL artwork to be bought and sold amongst artists and collectors. Making prints of them just cheapens an already cheap medium. I would like to hear other thoughts on this!
I WIN!
Well, not the whole competition, but I did win two honorable mentions at the Fountain City Art Center's Open Show in Knoxville, TN today! I'm very excited because I've never even been juried into a show, let alone win a prize - certainly not TWO! There were only four honorable mention awards given, and I managed to snag two of them. This is definite encouragement for me to continue my art while I work on my chemistry doctorate.
Grad School and stuff
It seems like a always begin these journal entries with something like "it's been awhile...." haha But it's always so true! I don't devote as much time to my art as I would like to! It's my last semester of undergrad, and I'm taking 18 hours this semester, 15 of which are chemistry! lol But I do have some good news! I got into four chemistry Ph.D. programs far!!!!!! I was accepted to GA Tech, SUNY-Stony Brook, USC, and UT-Knoxville! I'm so excited, I barely know what to do! I was so worried I wouldn't get into any of them, and so far, I've had no rejection letters! One of the perks is that they pay for you to come visit each program! So, I ge

Congratulations! What do you plan to do with your chemistry knowledge? I look forward to seeing more work from you this summer!
