My Bio
As a chemist, I spend much of my time indoors working in a lab, so I love to take advantage of my free time and spend it outdoors. With camera in-hand, I seek out various flora and fauna that I find interesting, and living in East Tennessee, I know I don't have to travel far to find them. I eventually select my favorite of these pictures and translate them into painting. I'm inspired by nature, and in my work, I like to reflect the natural beauty that drives me to create. Still, while painting, the analytically-minded chemist in me emerges, and as a result, my work tends to be very detailed and true to the subject. The foci of my works are often birds and flowers because I feel that, with the many variations in colors and habitats, these two subjects best represent the diverse beauty of the world.

Brandon is a member of the Campbell County Artist Association. He completed high school with four semesters of art study under his belt, with the honor of valedictorian. He graduated salutatorian from Lincoln Memorial University with a B.S. in Chemistry in May 2012. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D in chemistry at GA Tech.

Grad School

0 min read
I just realized I hadn't posted a journal entry since I began grad school. That should tell you how busy I am! I made it through my first semester, and am well into the second! I've started research and with classes, I have so little time for art. However, I feel that the busier I get, the more time I feel I spend on art! So, hopefully I will be cranking out a piece or two this semester! I've already started sketching out a new - what else? - rose painting. This one will be a very complicated large painting with multiple roses. I'm excited to start it, but I'm incredibly nervous! Hope all is well with everyone else! -Brandon

ACEO Prints

0 min read
I don't know that I've ever ranted on here before, but I'm doing it now. I was browsing through the ACEOs on Etsy today and found some really great, inexpensive pieces that I would have loved to have. One problem - they were prints of ACEOs. Seriously? The entire point of ACEOs was to create affordable, ORIGINAL artwork to be bought and sold amongst artists and collectors. Making prints of them just cheapens an already cheap medium. I would like to hear other thoughts on this!
